Game Data[]
Enemies may have the following stats.:
- HP: Enemy health. How much stamina they have before taking fatal damage from an attack by Adol.
- STR: Enemy attack power. How much attack damage the enemy can perform. Adol's defense will reduce/eliminate how much damage is taken, though in some versions of Ys-I, Adol will still take a minimum of 1 HP damage, regardless of the enemy's attack power.
- DEF: Enemy defense. How much damage an enemy can absorb before it affects their HP.
- Speed: Depicts the speed at which enemies move around on the screen. The higher the number, the slower they go. For comparison purposes, Adol's speed would be considered a value of 1.
- Gold: Gold earned.
- EXP: Experience points earned.
- Level: Monster's level. If Adol's level is higher than the monsters, the player will receive reduced EXP upon slaying it. This applies to the PC-Engine/Turbo Grafx versions of the game.

SEGA Master System (All Versions)[]
- This covers both the (JP) and (NA/EU) versions of the game. A few stat. changes were made to enemies to make progressing through the shrine and mines slightly easier for the NA/EU version.
- Once Adol's defense value exceeds the attack value of a boss, each attack does 5 dmg.
- Speed rating works in reverse in this version: The higher the number, the faster the monster goes. Adol's (Aron's) comparable speed is 16.

SHARP X68000[]
- This game takes a very different approach to stats., damage handling and changes the layout of monsters to the point it becomes unrecognizable.
- The basic formula for HP damage from the enemy to the player appears to be: (Enemy STR * 16 / Player DEF)+1, value rounds up. This would mean an enemy with 8 STR with a base damage of 129 if the player's defense is 0 and 13 if they have 10.
- For purposes of being able to recognize them, descriptions of the monsters will be provided instead of names, given how little resemblence they bear to the original types.
- Boss behaviour is quite different and damage dealt/taken appears to be based the number of frames per second the player makes contact with boss body/attack. For the most part, it appears to be 2 dmg. per 'hit'.
