Maia-128 Maia: "This is just another dream of mine..."
This story is a retelling.
The original story was told in Ys IV: Mask of the Sun and Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys.

"Readers have often found themselves wondering at what point Adol Christin (...), began referring to himself as "adventurer". Eighteen years of age, his curiosity at its peak... Let us look back on the events which occurred in the Great Forest of Celceta, and share in Adol's passion for adventure and discovery." ~ Excerpt from "Great Forest of Celceta"

Ys: Memories of Celceta, released in Japan as Ys: Foliage Ocean in Celceta (イース セルセタの樹海 Īsu: Seruseta no Jukai?), is an action role-playing game for the PlayStation Vita released in Japan on September 27, 2012, and in North America by XSEED Games on November 26, 2013. It was released for PC through Steam and GOG.com on July 25, 2018. A PlayStation 4 version with enhanced graphics, Ys: Memories of Celceta - Kai, is released in Japan on May 16, 2019. Later the localized remaster is released in the west, published by XSEED Games, on June 2020.

It is the third game to be considered the canonical Ys IV, but the first to be developed by Nihon Falcom, who developed the rest of the Ys series. Initially, Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys was considered the be the canonical Ys IV, but, after the release of Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim, Ys IV: Mask of the Sun was instead chosen as the canonical entry, likely due to the game taking less liberties with its story.[4]

The game stars series hero Adol Christin, who is suffering from amnesia, as he explores the land of Celceta.

Preface[]

"Adol Christin... An adventurer of great renown, whose exploits are widely discussed and hotly debated to this day.
His enterprises are recorded in over one hundred volumes of personal travelogues, which paint a vivid picture of the world and set the imaginations of those who read them ablaze.
Indeed, a significant number of historians continues to believe that the Age of Discovery came about as a result of Adol's travelogues and the thirst for adventure their contents spurn.
However, readers have often found themselves wondering at what point Adol Christin, born in a poor village high in the mountains, began referring to himself as "adventurer".
Historians and scholars have proposed countless theories to address this, yet in truth, the answer is recorded clearly in one particular volume of Adol's travelogues...
The adventure I am about to recount took place two years after Adol left his homeland.
Eighteen years of age, his curiosity at its peak... Where would his thirst for the unknown guide him next, and what wonders awaited him there?
Let us look back on the events which occurred in the Great Forest of Celceta, and share in Adol's passion for adventure and discovery."

Reception[]

On Metacritic, Ys: Memories of Celceta received "generally favorable" reviews on PS Vita holding a metascore of 82/100 based on 56 critic reviews.[5] While it received "mixed or average" reviews on PC with a metascore of 74/100 based on 7 critic reviews.[6]
