Unique Actions (パーソナルアクション) are field actions introduced in Ys: Memories of Celceta. Unique Actions can be used to open up new areas of the Great Forest of Celceta to explore, recover Adol’s lost memories, or even gain rare and unique items from locked chests.
Ys: Memories of Celceta[]
Each character in the party has a Unique Action, which only they can use.
- Adol has two unique actions:
- Regain his lost memories by touching orbs of light scattered throughout the Great Forest. Resting at a camp marks the locations of nearby memory orbs on the Map of Celceta.
- Kill Living Weapons in Colonia Artifact Laboratory.
- Duren can open locked chests by kicking them. Locked chests usually contain rare and powerful items.
- Karna can use her knives to slice through distant objects, opening up new paths through the Great Forest and its many dungeons.
- Ozma can strike cracked walls or damaged objects with his spear in order to destroy them, though it only works underwater.
- Calilica can activate specially-sealed switches and other mechanical devices, resulting in a variety of environmental effects.
- Frieda can dissipate gaseous build-ups out in the forest, clearing a safe passage for further exploration.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox[]
In Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, all are Monstrums with certain gifts. As soon as they joins the party, their gifts are shared among all party members. So any player-controlled character can activate the gifts without switching character. However, in some locations of the Balduq city, the player character will be forced into their civilian form and cannot activate their gifts.

Ys SEVEN[]
There is a similar game mechanic called Support Ability. These abilities activate when certain party members are in the battle party. These abilities are passive skills that do not need to be activated by the player.
