Sara Tovah (サラ・トバ) is a supporting character in Ys I. Sara is a fortune teller living in Minea in the land of Esteria. She tells Adol of the great evil that is sweeping the land and asks him to find the six Books of Ys. She also gives Adol a crystal for identification and instructs him to find her aunt Jeba in Zepik Village who knows how to retrieve one of the books. By the time Adol finds the first book she is murdered by an unknown assailant.
Sara and her family are descendants of Yunica Tovah, who chose to stay on the ground rather than returning to the floating island of Ys.
Trivia[]
- In Ys Origin, when Yunica failed to produce a roda fruit to a Roo, they will say "May your distant descendant foreordain her own murder!"[1] However, it was said in Roonic language, so Yunica has no idea what they are saying.
- In the anime adaptation,Ys Legacy, she wasn't murdered, but instead petrified by Dalles. When Adol defeated Dark Fact and collected all 6 Books of Ys in the last episode, her curse was broken and she came back to life. On a related note, the non-canon Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys shows her to have escaped to Celceta before she could be killed.
