The current emperor of the empire is Marcus Claudius Garmanicus.
History[]
It is currently unknown when Romn was built and when it became an empire. However, the earliest noble family known currently is Sir Carlan's family which was established around 300 years ago. It is possible that the Romun Empire was built sometime before or around that time.

Ys: Memories of Celceta[]
Adol, while still trying to recover from amnesia, has to hunt down rogue Romun military officers who are trying to kill all but the strongest humans. Griselda, a Romun princess who is the governor-general and ruler of Celceta, backs Adol in his quest to dispose of these rogues.
Ys: The Oath in Felghana[]
Count McGuire, a nobleman from the Romun Empire who was appointed as the feudal lord of the area, closes the mine which is the main source of income for Redmont and levies high taxes.
Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim[]
The Romun Empire's army, lead by Admiral Agares and Ernst, conquers Canaan Islands and enslaves several Rehdans on the basis that they are "subhuman." Adol works with Baslam, Ladoc, and the remaining Rehdans to rescue the hostages and retake Canaan.
Ernst also took over the Ark of Napishtim, but is stopped by Adol. Since the Ark's control key Almarion was destroyed in the fight, Adol had to destroy the Ark in order to prevent it from causing destruction.
Ys Seven[]
The Romun Empire concludes the Romun-Altaginian war with the Principality of Altago. This causes the Altaginians to still be suspicious of the Eresian. Adol was under suspicion of regicide of Kiemarl because of this.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox[]
The Romun Empire annexes the Kingdom of Gllia during the Erdlingen War. Right when Adol arrives in Balduq, he is arrested by Warden Belger on grounds of his suspicious involvement with the events of the Isle of Seiren, the Atlas Ocean, and Altago.

Analogue to the real world[]
The Romun Empire is an analogue to the Roman Empire in the real world.
Despite that, characters from Romn do not have Latin nor Italian names (Griselda, Lindheim, Ingrid and Ernst are Germanic names, while Leo is a Greek name, and McGuire is Irish), and their appearance and aesthetics are more based on medieval Europe than ancient Rome. Marcus Claudius Garmanicus is likely a reference to Roman Generals Marcus Claudius Marcellus and Nero Claudius Germanicus.
