Pikkards (ピッカード) are a species of animal commonly raised as farm animals due to their delicious meat. They are notable for being the most recurring animal species in the Ys series, appearing in some form in every mainline game since Ys Eternal. In a way, Pikkards could be considered as the mascot of the Ys series.

Appearance[]
Pikkards are small animals that bear a resemblance to guinea pigs. They have black beady eyes, plump round bodies, small round ears, and whiskers. While Pikkards are usually brown in color with stripes along their back, a white variant of the species can be spotted in Felghana and Obelia Bay.
Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished: Omen[]
An enclosure with Pikkards can be found in Barbado Port, right next to Doctor Bludo's clinic. Some wild Pikkards are also found in the fields southwest of the Abandoned Mine, where it is possible to fight them. They are the weakest enemy in the game.
Ys II: Ancient Ys Vanished: The Final Chapter[]
Both Lance Village and the Colony of Lava have Pikkard enclosures.
Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim[]
There is a Pikkard pen at the center of Port Rimorge which is guarded by Emilio. During the invasion of Port Rimorge through the Romun fleet, the Pikkards escape from their enclosure. After finding and returning all four of them, Adol is rewarded with the Daylight Stone accessory.
Ys: The Oath in Felghana[]
Hugo tends to a group of four Pikkards inside Redmont. At some point in the game, the pikkards become sick. Hugo asks Adol to bring him four Berm Leaves from the Elderm Mountains and rewards him with a Katol Elixir if he succeeds.
Ys Origin[]
While there are no Pikkards in the story mode of Ys Origin, the secret 7th stage of the Arena mode features one wave of Pikkards, followed by a boss fight against Pikkardon, Lord of Pikkards.
Ys SEVEN[]
Similar to Ys VI, there is a quest where the Pikkard Keeper of Segram, Zak McShane, will task Adol to find seven Pikkards throughout the plains. The reward upon completion is the Crimson Jewel and the "Pikkard-Upper" achievement.
Ys: Memories of Celceta[]
Pikkards appear in various villages across Celceta and could be interacted with and fed, similar to the other animals in the game, and eventually reward the player with an item.
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana[]
A trio of Pikkards, which were also on board of the Lombardia, joined Castaway Village.
When the ship sinks, Reja manages to survive by holding on to one of the pikkards, which brought him to the shore of the Isle of Seiren. Proclaimed as his savior, Reja develops a strong liking for Pikkards and takes care of them as well as he could.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox[]
The reward for finding and delivering 20 Azure Petals to Marguerite is a Ride-Along Pikkard, a cosmetic shoulder attachment that looks like a Pikkard.
