Masaya Hashimoto (橋本昌哉 ) is a programmer, game designer, game director and composer. He is responsible for co-creating the Ys series along with Tomoyoshi Miyazaki.
He also composed two tracks for Ys I that were left unused when the game was released in 1987: "Fair Wind" and "Olden Nostalgic Shop", the former got rearranged and appears in Ys II Eternal, Ys II Complete and Ys II Chronicles; the latter can only be heard in the PC-98 version of Ys I and on the album "Music from Ys I&II Chronicles PC-88 Mode".
In 1989, after finishing Ys III: Wanderers from Ys, Hashimoto and Miyazaki left Falcom to form studio Quintet, famous for developing the ActRaiser series, Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia.
