The Isle of Seiren (セイレン
Description[]
The Isle of Seiren is considered to be cursed due to its association with the mythical Seiren creatures of Greshun mythology. According to the legend, the Seiren would enchant sailors with their singing and lure wayward ships and their enraptured crews to their doom. Even ships that pass by its waters never live to see another day, leading sailors who know of the island's tales and curse to avoid it. Seemingly, not a single human soul lives on the island, and any ship that drifts too close to it sinks under mysterious circumstances. The only surviving group known to have escaped the island are the remaining passengers of the Lombardia ship, including Adol and his expedition group.
Despite its ominous reputation, the Isle of Seiren is a place of unique beauty and ecological diversity. With an estimated area of 500 square krimelye, the island features an enormous mountain range, Gendarme Mountain, estimated to be 2000 melyes high. Its southern part consists of shorelines, high cliffs, deep forests, and a forest that looks like a coral reef system. The northern part has low to high mountainous areas with the ruins of Aegias city just north of Gendarme Mountain, while the Great Tree of Origins is nestled between the city and the mountain range. Its unique ecosystem resembles tropical lands, despite being a part of the Eresia continent.
Additionally, the island is home to Primordials, an exotic species that resembles gigantic reptiles, birds, and fish. The Oceanus is the Primordial responsible for sinking all ships that approach or try to leave the Isle of Seiren.
History[]
Long before humans existed, the island was home to a civilization of beings known as the Eternians. They were the last human-like race to inhabit the island and prospered there, despite not being the first to call it home. However, their existence, as well as all those before them, was wiped out by a process known as the Lacrimosa, a will bestowed by the goddess Maia for the Great Tree of Origins.
During the Eternian Era, the island was connected to the Eresia continent and Aegias was linked to other foreign countries through the Towal Highway and Lodiana Highway. However, since the destruction of the Kingdom of Eternia, the island has become disconnected from the continent and has become a secluded location.
