Iris (イリス ) is a girl whom the Monstrums encounter in Balduq Prison. She intended on assassinating the current Governor General of Gllia, Cardinal Lindheim, but was caught and imprisoned in the process.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Iris is a little girl with sky blue eyes and grey hair tied up in a high ponytail with a black aigrette. Her outfit comprises of a hipless black leotard with detached bishop sleeves, knee-high boots with medium heels and rose-colored floral stockings, a scarf, and a black cowl around her neck. Additionally, she wears black gloves and metal arm bracers with black lace trim, and what resembles a hair harness or a circlet on her head. The cloth pieces on the sides of her hips and the accessory on her crotch are similar in style to aprons or belt favors. Iris wields twin knives in battle.
After joining the Dandelion's waitstaff, her outfit remains largely the same, but she wears a white apron, a headpiece, and ties her hair with a green ribbon.
Personality[]
Iris is quite ornery and has a high-handed attitude, making her difficult to approach at times, but she often shows glimpses of a childish side that is in keeping with her age. As an assassin, Iris has a lot of bloodlust and is not afraid to show it, this often makes her seem reckless and impulsive, which can cause problems for herself and those around her.
Background[]
Her real name is Eleanor, and she used to be the princess of the kingdom of Gllia. However, during the Erdlingen War eight years ago, the kingdom was destroyed by the Romun Empire. Eleanor hid in a closet, and had to watch as her father was gutted by Romun soldiers. The shock was too much for her to bear, and since then, revenge has been the only thing keeping her going.
Maxim rescued her and entrusted her to his master, who taught her how to defend herself and gave her the alias Iris to conceal her true identity. After Maxim's master died, she set out to assassinate the current Governor General of Gllia, Cardinal Lindheim, whom she blames for the destruction of her country and the death of her father, who was the last king of Gllia.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox[]
Iris is arrested for infiltrating Cardinal Lindheim's office with the intention of assassinating him, but when she arrives, she finds he is already missing. The Monstrums later find Iris in Balduq Prison and offer her an invitation to join them at the Dandelion. With hopes of gaining insight into Lindheim's whereabouts, she accepts their offer.
She later comes to discover that Lindheim was actually against the war and had made attempts to protect her family. This realization prompts her to abandon her desire for vengeance, and in the end, she is adopted by Parks and is determined to lead her own life, as her father had wished in a letter to her.
