Duren (デュレン) is a knowledge broker from Casnan who has decided to travel with Adol in Ys: Memories of Celceta. An extremely kind-hearted man (though he'd never admit it), Duren can't bring himself to walk away from someone in need, making him a perfect travel companion.
History[]
Adol first encounters Duren at a bar in Casnan. Duren claims to have met Adol before – though with no memory, Adol remains skeptical.
Later on, it turns out that Duren is from the village of Danan and is a member of the Clan of Darkness. He rescued Adol, who was attacked by Eldeel and lost his memories as a result of leaving Highland, and took him to Casnan. From then on, he decided to help Adol by acting as his companion.

At the beginning of the game, Duren encounters Adol, who reveals to Duren that he has recently lost his memories. After helping Adol rescue the miners who were trapped in the mine due to monsters, he makes a partnership with Adol so they can share the rewards for successfully exploring the sea of trees in Celceta, the task that Governor General Griselda commissions at the beginning of the game.
