King Chard III (シャルド3世 ) was the king of Gllia at the end of the Hundred Years' War. Some time after the war, he was turned into a chimera called Chimeral Chard III (キメラ・シャルド3世 ) by Zola and became his puppet.
History[]
Hundred Years' War[]
During the Hundred Years' War, the Gllian kingdom was on the losing side until Grimnir chose a teenage farm girl, Rosvita to be his agent. Rosvita and her team of heroes managed to push back the Britai forces and ultimately led Gllia to the winning of the war. However, during one of the battles Rosvita was captured by Britai forces and was tried by Bishop Roussillon for heresy. Eventually, Rosvita was burnt on the stake. Roussillon was ordered to sentence her to death by King Chard III, who was jealous of her stature.
Aftermath of the war[]
Although Gllia won the war, both Nors gods, Grimnir on Gllia's and Luki on Britai's side, killed each other. With Grimnir's death, the demigods that fought the monsters in the Grimwald Nox also disappeared. As there was no longer any demigod to stem the flow of monsters, the Grimwald Nox ended up as a curse and the Gllian royal family hurriedly looked for a solution.
This is where Rosvita's second-in-command, the alchemist Zola, came into play. He proposed to create artificial demigods through Alchemy, but he needed people with great courage and wisdom as base. Therefore, Chard III looked for volunteers, and Rosvita's team of heroes answered to his request. They were cloned into Homunculus with the same abilities as the demigods who once fought in the Grimwald Nox.
Sometime after this, Zola, who gained the trust of the Gllian royal family with his solution for the Grimwald Nox, somehow transmuted the king into a chimera as punishment for his betrayal of Rosvita.
Trivia[]
- He is a reference to Charles VII of France.
- Since he is a former king of Gllia, that would likely make him an ancestor of Iris'.
- His chimera form is very similar to Meth Bellators. It is not known if he was fused with one, or the Meth Bellators originated from Alchemy too.
