Belger (ベルガー?) is a Romun Imperial soldier who serves as the head warden of Balduq Prison.

Profile[]

Personality[]

Though hardheaded and unyielding, he stands true to his personal sense of justice, and is duly respected among his subordinates and colleagues alike.

Belger's judgment as both a soldier and a superior officer is remarkably strong. He adopts a relentless attitude when dealing with the Monstrums causing havoc throughout the city.

Background[]

Although Belger is a talented officer, he was sent to Balduq away from the empire due to frictions with his superiors. Nevertheless, he takes his banishment in strides and works hard to keep peace in the city.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox[]

Belger is the Romun officer who tries to arrest Adol at the beginning of the game until Chatelard shows up and takes over instead. He is initially opposed to the Monstrums, as many of them are causing public disorder which goes against what he fights for.

Later in the game, Belger questions Chatelard about the Hieroglyph Knights' arrests, only to be imprisoned as Chaterlard reveals his true intentions are to liberate Gllia from Romun control. When the Monstrums find him in a research wing cell, Belger is initially reluctant to accept their help but eventually does so in order to restore the garrison and bring order to the city.

At the end of the game, Belger meets Adol and Dogi for one last time as the pair prepares to leave the city. Warning them about the new paranormal investigation division sent from the Romun Empire, he advises Adol to leave quickly and take caution.
