Ares is an ancient Garmanic war god. Little is known about him except that a charm or talisman that is blessed by him can increase the wearer's attack power.

Gears[]

Ares is mentioned in multiple games in the descriptions of the gears that Adol received. In Ys: The Oath in Felghana, it increases the duration of Boost mode, in Ys: Memories of Celceta, Ys SEVEN, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana and Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, it restores the EXTRA gauge slowly as Adol walks around.

Trivia[]

  • In addition to being Greek god of war, Ares could also be a nod to the protagonist of Brandish games, another series by Falcom.
  • It is possible that the Illburns Ruins was a religious site dedicated to Ares. However, given that Bishop Nikolas first made contact with Galbalan at the Illburns Ruins, it could have been dedicated to Galbalan instead.
